Gia Gugushvili

Gia Gugushvili is Georgian artist and graphic artist, born in 1952 in Tbilisi. In 1977, he graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. From 1980 to 1988, he served as the head of the Department of Fine Arts at the Tbilisi Artist's House. Between 1986 and 1996, he held the position of secretary at the Union of Artists of Georgia and as director at "Georgian Stamp" (Georgian Post) from 2000 to 2004. Since 2004, he has held the position of professor at the Tbilisi State Art Academy. From 2004 to 2006, he served as the vice-principal of the Tbilisi State Art Academy. Subsequently, from 2006 to 2009, he was the dean of fine arts at TSSA. In 2014, he was elected as the rector of the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where he continues to serve to this day.

About artist

Gia Gugushvili has received numerous awards and prizes throughout his career, including the state prize in 1994.
Additionally, he emerged as the winner at the Dubai Art Symposium in 2007, the Osaka International Symposium in 1987, and the Bulgarian International Symposium in 1986. His works can be found in prestigious institutions such as the National Museum of Georgia (Tbilisi), the Adjara Art Museum (Batumi), the Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow), the Christoph Merian Foundation (Basel), and the Norton Art Museum (Philadelphia).
Furthermore, his artworks are also prominently featured in various galleries and private collections in Georgia and overseas.
